As part of the celebrations for the Girls in ITC, PURA has introduced job fair which brought together eight (8) organisations including both from public and private to showcase their job prospects and other necessary details of their recruitment process.
The event is celebrated during the fourth week of April every year to raise awareness for women and young girls to take up placement or take career wise into ITC, to encourage and mentor them.
Mr Kelepha Samba, Director, Human Recourses & Corporate Affairs at PURA, said: “In addition to the celebration we also organised a job fair which is an opportunity for students to talk to prospective employers regarding job opportunities and for employees to showcase what they do and how also they attract and retained talent.”
According to him, it will also guide some students who are undecided on what career they want to take up.
Madam Lucretia George, Manager Corporate Affairs at PURA, said that her institution has been taken part in the girls in ITC celebration for the third time.
“The initiative creates awareness for women and young girls to take up placement or take career wise into ITC, we have a low number of women about the 20 per cent of the sector are young women, basically we encouraging more girls and women to take up career in ICT. We even organised a workshop where we invited young girl’s and women in the sector who had made means for themselves in the sector,” she said.
